Publiek Park is een nomadisch hedendaags kunstproject dat openbare stadsparken en -tuinen verkent als tentoonstellingsruimte. Het project nodigt zowel internationale als lokale kunstenaars uit om kunstwerken te creëren die op een locatiegevoelige manier inspiratie putten uit de omgeving. Wandelen wordt aangewend als een curatoriële methodologie om de parken samen met kunstenaars, onderzoekers, partners, omwonenden en andere belanghebbenden te ontdekken. Publiek Park wil de sociale en historische lagen van groene openbare ruimtes blootleggen door middel van een levendig programma dat beeldende kunst, muziek, film en performance samenbrengt. Elke editie wordt vergezeld door een wandelgids met bijdragen van kunstenaars, een historisch overzicht en essays van hedendaagse denkers. Deze omvangrijke publicatie begeleidt de bezoekers op hun reis en biedt verschillende perspectieven op het project en zijn unieke natuurlijke en stedelijke context.

Cc Strombeek is samen met Botanique, Brussel coproducent van de intussen 3e editie van Publiek Park. Na het Citadelpark in Gent, en de groene stedelijke omgeving van het Harmoniepark, het Koning Albertpark en de tuin van het Provinciehuis in Antwerpen, verkent Publiek Park nu de omgeving van Brussel. Kunstwerken worden geactiveerd over twee locaties: de Plantentuin in Meise, en de Kruidtuin in Brussel die oorspronkelijk deze eeuwenoude plantentuin huisvestte.

Publiek Park is opgericht en gecureerd door Jef Declercq, Anna Laganovska, Koi Persyn en Adriënne van der Werf.

Publiek Park est un projet d’art contemporain nomade qui se sert des parcs et jardins publics des villes comme décor. Le projet invite des artistes internationaux et locaux à créer des œuvres d’art inspirées de l’environnement, en tenant compte du site. La marche fait office de méthodologie curatoriale pour explorer les parcs avec des artistes, des chercheurs, des partenaires, des voisins et d’autres parties prenantes. Publiek Park vise à révéler les couches sociales et historiques des espaces verts publics au travers d’un programme public vivant au carrefour des arts visuels, de la musique, du cinéma et des performances. Chaque édition fait l’objet d’un Walking Guide qui renferme des contributions d’artistes, un survol historique et des essais signés par des penseurs contemporains. Cette publication complète, qui accompagne les visiteurs tout au long de leur voyage, envisage le projet ainsi que son décor naturel et urbain unique sous divers angles.

Le Cc Strombeek et le Botanique, à Bruxelles, coproduisent la troisième édition de Publiek Park. Après le Citadelpark à Gand, les espaces verts urbains du Harmoniepark, du Koning Albertpark et du jardin de la maison provinciale à Anvers, Publiek Park explore à présent les environs de Bruxelles. Les œuvres d’art sont réparties sur deux sites : le jardin botanique de Meise et le jardin botanique de Bruxelles, qui abritait au départ le jardin botanique séculaire.

Publiek Park is a nomadic contemporary art project which explores public city parks and gardens as its exhibition grounds. The project invites both international and local artists to create artworks that draw inspiration from the surroundings in a site-sensitive manner. Walking is employed as a curatorial methodology to discover the parks with artists, researchers, partners, neighbors and other stakeholders. Publiek Park aims to uncover the social and historical layers of public green spaces through a vibrant public programme that brings together visual art, music, film, and performance. Each edition is complemented by a Walking Guide, including artist's contributions, historical overview, and essays by contemporary thinkers. This comprehensive publication accompanies the visitors in their journey, providing diverse perspectives on the project and its unique natural and urban settings.

CC Strombeek together with Botanique, Brussels is co-producer of the now 3rd edition of Publiek Park. After the Citadelpark in Ghent, and the urban green area of Harmoniepark, Koning Albertpark and the garden of the Provinciehuis in Antwerp, Publiek Park now explores the surroundings of Brussels. Artworks are activated across two locations: the Botanical Garden in Meise, and the Botanical Garden in Brussels which originally housed this centuries-old botanical garden.
