Publiek Park is een nomadisch hedendaags kunstproject dat openbare stadsparken en -tuinen verkent als tentoonstellingsruimte. Het project nodigt zowel internationale als lokale kunstenaars uit om kunstwerken te creëren die op een locatiegevoelige manier inspiratie putten uit de omgeving. Wandelen wordt aangewend als een curatoriële methodologie om de parken samen met kunstenaars, onderzoekers, partners, omwonenden en andere belanghebbenden te ontdekken.

De tentoonstelling begint in Plantentuin Meise met installaties, film en sculpturale interventies en verplaatst zich in september naar Jardin botanique de Bruxelles, waar naast visuele installaties ook performance, efemere gebaren en gesproken woord centraal staan. Door de historische verplaatsing van de botanische tuin uit de stad in de 20e eeuw te herleiden, belichten we de complexe relaties tussen stedelijk groen, overheidsbeleid en vormen van publiek samenzijn. Publiek Park 2025 zet onze missie voort om deze locaties te activeren door middel van ambitieuze en locatiegevoelige artistieke interventies.

De editie van Publiek Park van dit jaar komt tot stand in samenwerking met Cc Strombeek, Plantentuin Meise, Botanique Brussels, Leefmilieu Brussel, Wiels, Art Cinema OFFoff, TRACK, Level Five, LUCA School of Arts, en meer. Het project wordt genereus ondersteund door de Vlaamse Overheid (OP/TIL), Ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, Ambassade de France en Belgique, de State Culture Capital Foundation van Letland, Federaal Ministerie Republiek Oostenrijk (BMKÖS), en verschillende andere partners.

Publiek Park est un projet d’art contemporain nomade qui se sert des parcs et jardins publics des villes comme décor. Le projet invite des artistes internationaux et locaux à créer des œuvres d’art inspirées de l’environnement, en tenant compte du site. La marche fait office de méthodologie curatoriale pour explorer les parcs avec des artistes, des chercheurs, des partenaires, des voisins et d’autres parties prenantes.

L'exposition commence à Plantentuin Meise avec des installations, des films et des interventions sculpturales avant de se concentrer sur le Jardin botanique de Bruxelles en septembre, où, en plus des installations visuelles, la performance, les gestes éphémères et la parole prennent le devant de la scène. En retraçant le déplacement historique du jardin botanique hors de la ville au 20e siècle, nous mettons en lumière les relations complexes entre les espaces verts urbains, les politiques gouvernementales et les formes de rassemblement public. Publiek Park 2025 poursuit notre mission d'activation de ces sites par le biais d'interventions artistiques ambitieuses et adaptées au lieu.

Publiek Park is a nomadic contemporary art project which explores public city parks and gardens as its exhibition grounds. The project invites both international and local artists to create artworks that draw inspiration from the surroundings in a site-sensitive manner. Walking is employed as a curatorial methodology to discover the parks with artists, researchers, partners, neighbors and other stakeholders.

The exhibition begins in Plantentuin Meise with installations, film, and sculptural interventions before guiding its focus to Jardin botanique de Bruxelles in September, where, in addition to visual installations, performance, ephemeral gestures, and spoken word take centre stage. By retracing the historical displacement of the botanical garden out of the city in the 20th century, we highlight the complex relationships between urban green spaces, government policies and forms of public gathering. Publiek Park 2025 continues our mission of activating these sites through ambitious and site-sensitive artistic interventions.
