APPARAT ORGAN QUARTET (IS)
Apparat Organ Quartet is de legendarische IJslandse synth-rock-weirdness band rond de erg gemiste componist Johann Johannsson. Ze combineren een hele hoop oude krakende synths en keyboards met harde drums en vocoders, zo ergens tussen Kraftwerk, Daft Punk en Terry Riley in ā op Wunderkammer #4 vieren ze de 20e verjaardag van hun iconische debuut (ook uitgebracht op het toenmalige Belgische label SKELT) met een one-off performance die ab-so-luut niet te missen is.
MEITEI (JP)
De Japanse ambient-artiest Meitei/å„äø probeert in zijn elektronische muziek de ziel van Japan en haar muzikale geschiedenis te vatten. Hij bracht tot nu toe enkele indrukwekkende albums waarin hij een diepe verbinding legt met de Japanse cultuur, natuur en geschiedenis. In zijn werk gebruikt Meitei geluidssamples van oude Japanse films en gevonden geluidsopnamen, ruisende zeeĆ«n en bossen en traditionele muziek, die allemaal onder een dikke laag analoog stof worden gepresenteerd.
De producer maakte in 2018 indruk op luisteraars uit Japan en ver daarbuiten met zijn debuutalbum Kwaidan, dat door Pitchfork werd uitgeroepen tot een van de āBest Experimental Albumsā van dat jaar. Sindsdien evolueerde hij meer en meer naar muziek met de beat meer op de voorgrond - denk J. Dilla meets Steve Reich. Meitei is daarmee een aanrader voor zowel de ambient als elektronica/beats liefhebbers.
HANNES D'HOINE (BE) + PAK YAN LAU (BE)
Wunderkammer #4 ziet de premiĆØre van een gloednieuwe samenwerking tussen Hannes d'Hoine (multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, o.m. het unieke Jon Doe One) en Pak Yan Lau (componiste, improvisator en muzikale duizendpoot, o.m. Bakunawa). Zelfgebouwde instrumenten, ritualistische minimale muziek, ambient, impro ā het wordt ongetwijfeld een niet te missen concert voor avontuurlijke oren.
ROMĆO POIRIER (FR)
RomĆ©o Poirier (Straatsburg) is percussionist en producer met een fascinatie voor water, taal, en muziek als tijds-gerelateerde kunst, niet enkel lengte maar ook hoe tijd fracteert door autobiografische ervaringen. Dat klinkt moeilijk ā maar op Living Room (faitiche28), zijn derde solo album en opvolger van de internationaal gevierde Hotel Nota lp, en meteen ook de gloednieuwe plaat die hij komt voorstellen op Wunderkammer #4, vertaalt zich dat naar erg toegankelijke en prachtige melancholie, met jazzy invloeden, knisperende organische ritmes en sepia gekleurde nostalgie vol verwondering en meditatieve schoonheid.
BENOĆT DELBECQ (FR) + ERIC THIELEMANS (BE)
SCORES is een gloednieuwe samenwerking tussen Frans pianovirtuoos BenoĆ®t Delbecq ā een graag geziene gast op vorige Wunderkammer edities- en Belgisch meester-percussionist Eric Thielemans. Het wordt een spontane en open conversatie, vol gelaagde polyritmes, improvisatie, verwondering en een uitgesproken ābeing in the momentā gevoel ā een unieke one off performance dus, voor elke liefhebber van avontuurlijke muziek.
FREDERIK CROENE (BE)
Componist/pianist Frederik Croene brengt op Wunderkammer #4 zijn unieke No Context werk: een vijftal korte stukken gespeeld op een midi-keyboard. Onder elke toets zit een geluidsfragment. Hij selecteerde uit zijn eigen opnames korte, vervreemdende klanksnippers die in een strak pianistiek keurslijf een compleet nieuw verhaal vertellen. Een ironische, luchtige kijk op zijn over het algemeen wat geladen oeuvre, vol speelse verwondering en verrassing.
MOBILHOME (BE)
Mobilhome is een jazzkwintet uit Brussel, gevormd door de Zwitserse pianist Camille-Alban Spreng. Volgens de uitspraak "music is where your home is", leiden ze de luisteraar langs een hobbelig plattelandspad, vol gevaarlijke bochten en smoggy landschappen. Dit is avant-garde jazzmuziek voor nostalgische pop-rock boomers, en voor liefhebbers van vogelzang.

NƔstio Mosquito (AO)
Multimediakunstenaar NĆ”stio Mosquito (Ā°1981, Luanda, Angola) staat bekend om performances, video's, muziek en poĆ«zie die blijk geven van een intense toewijding aan het open-einde potentieel van taal. Gemakkelijk verkeerd geĆÆnterpreteerd als een soort wereldmoeheid, geeft Mosquitoās praktijk uitdrukking aan een verlangen om zich op alle niveaus met de werkelijkheid bezig te houden.
Cc Strombeek is verheugd een partnerschap aan te kondigen met THEY THE THEM ARE WE, een conversatie/interview en interdisciplinair samenwerkingsproject, geĆÆnitieerd door NĆ”stio Mosquito. De formats nemen verschillende vormen aan, maar focussen vooral op luisterervaringen en visuele samenwerkingen. Deze samenwerking wordt op 1 oktober afgetrapt met het project "Speak Like You Talk". Mosquito heeft hiervoor de afgelopen maanden met verschillende jongeren uit de buurt gesproken.
Barbara Prada (PE)
Barbara Prada (Ā°1990, Lima, Peru en woont in Brussel) omschrijft zichzelf als een ecofeministische kunstenares. Veel van Prada's werk tot nu toe verkent onze relatie met voeding en hoe het onze sociale ecologie en identiteit kan bepalen. Ze beschouwt samenwerkingen als een strategie voor conversatie. Aan de ene kant is het een oerverbinding, aangezien voedsel ons als soort in stand houdt. Anderzijds is voedsel interessant als artistiek materiaal en als communicatiemiddel.
Tijdens haar residentie in de School van Gaasbeek in juni, werkte Prada aan de ontwikkeling van haar nieuwste creatie āAppropriation & Reappropriation.ā Met een focus op de huidige klimaatnoodsituatie, reflecteert ze over zowel de drijfveren als de impact van de vierde industriĆ«le revolutie (4IR). Prada reflecteert in dit project over de drang van het industrialisme en hoe deze onze menselijke relatie met, en gehechtheid aan, de identiteit en geschiedenis van de natuurlijke wereld zal beĆÆnvloeden.

APPARAT ORGAN QUARTET (IS)
Apparat Organ Quartet is a legendary and totally unique band from Iceland, founded by the tragically missed composer Johann Johannsson. At Wunderkammer #4 they will celebrate the 20th birthday of their iconic debut album, a.o. released on the Belgian label SKELT, with an absolutely not to be missed one-off performance, using a mountain of old synths and keyboards + drumming to create a blend of riff driven synth rock weirdness, somewhere between Daft Punk, Kraftwerk & Terry Riley.
MEITEI (JP)
Japanese ambient master Meitei/å„äø tries to capture the soul of Japan in his electronic music. He released some impressive albums connecting Japanese culture, nature and history, where he uses samples of old japanese movies, field recordings and traditional music, all buried under a dusting of analogue phatness. Kwaidan (2018) was voted one of the best experimental albums of the year by Pitchfork; since then his sound evolved to a sonic world with more room for beats ā think Steve Reich meets J. Dilla. A must-see for both ambient and beat lovers!
HANNES D'HOINE + PAK YAN LAU
Wunderkammer #4 sees the premiere of a brand new collaboration between musical alchemist Hannes dāHoine (a.o. the unique Jon Doe One) & Pak Yan Lau (composer, improviser, musician extraordinaire, a.o. Bakunawa), featuring self-made instruments, ritualistic minimal sounds, ambient and impo ā definitely a not to be missed concert for adventurous ears!
ROMĆO POIRIER (FR
RomĆ©o Poirier (Strasbourg) is percussionist and producer with a fascination for water, language and music as time-based art, not simply in the sense of duration, but the way time refracts through autobiographical experience. That might sound difficult ā but on his third album Living Room (faitiche28), following the internationally acclaimed Hotel Nota LP, this translates to very accessible melancholy, with jazzy elements, fluid organic pulse, a sepia coloured nostalgia full of wonderment and mesmerizing beauty.
BENOĆT DELBECQ (FR) + ERIC THIELEMANS (BE)
SCORES is a brand new collaboration between French piano wizard BenoĆ®t Delbecq ā a previous guest at Wunderkammer- and Belgian master percussionist Eric Thielemans. A spontaneous and open conversation, multi-layered rhythmical cycles, improvisation and being in the moment ā a unique one off performance for any lover of adventurous music.

Composer/pianist Frederik Croene will perform his āNo Contextā work at Wunderkammer #4: a couple of short pieces on a midi-keyboard, with every key hiding a disorienting sound fragment. He selected short sonic snippets from his own work and rearranges them into a totally new story. An ironic, breezy take on his more āseriousā compositions, with wonderment and an element of surprise central.
MOBILHOME (BE)
Mobilhome is a Brussels based jazz quintet around Swiss pianist Camille-Alban Spreng. Following the moto āmusic is where your home isā they take the audience on a bumpy road filled with dangerous turns and smoggy landscapes. Avant-garde jazz for nostalgic pop-rock boomers, and for lovers of bird song.

Multimedia artist NƔstio Mosquito (b. 1981, Luanda) is known for performances, videos, music, and poetry that show an intense commitment to the open-ended potential of language. Easily misread as a kind of world weariness, it is the extraordinary expression of an urgent desire to engage with reality at all levels.
Cc Strombeek is pleased to announce a partnership with THEY THE THEM ARE WE, a conversation/interview and interdisciplinary collaborative project, initiated by artist NƔstio Mosquito. The formats take different shapes, focusing majoritively on listening experiences and visual collaborations. This collaboration kicks off with the launch of the project "Speak Like You Talk" on 1st October. Mosquito has over the past few months been speaking with different teenagers from the neighbourhood.
Barbara Prada (PE)
Barbara Prada (Ā°1990, Lima, Peru and lives in Brussels, Belgium) describes herself as an ecofeminist artist. Much of Pradaās work to date has explored our relationship with food and how it can define our social ecology and identity. She considers collaborations as a strategy for conversation. On the one hand, the connection is primal, since food is what sustains us as a species. On the other hand, food is interesting as an artistic material and as a communication device.
During her residency at the School of Gaasbeek in June, Prada worked on the development of the project āAppropriation & Reappropriationā. Focusing on one of the many issues of the climate emergency, she reflects on both the drivers and the impact of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). Prada explores where the drive of industrialism, in seeking to solve the problems of its own creation, will lead us and how this will impact our relationship with and attachment to the identity and history of the natural world.
